USA: The Cost of Corruption in the Medical Device Industry

Posted on September 6, 2011

USA: Dan Walters sent me a heads up on this thoughtful piece written by Emily Beitiko for The Center of Genetics & Society. Like many of you, I personally know several people who have received faulty medical devices – devices that turned out to be recalled long before they were ever implanted in their bodies. All of those patients have suffered needlessly from the use of those flawed fixes. Not one received the relief that was promised. One of them died from complications. Sadly, Dan Walters is well acquainted with this issue and is one of our most passionate and effective industry watchdogs working on behalf of patients. His experiences are noted in Emily’s article as well. Thank you, Dan, for shining a light on the inner workings of the medical device industry.
