USA: Latest Attempt to Throw Doctors Under the Bus

Posted on June 28, 2011

USA: The Obama administration is spending $374,000 (give or take) to determine if doctors are accepting privately insured patients over those with Medicare. I could go on and on about this but Paul Levy sums it up pretty succinctly. “Oh, please.” Love his wit. Let’s see, the government wants doctors to take patients who are part of a government program. The physician receives payment from the goverment which consistently falls short of the cost of caring for these patients; goverment expects the doctor to eat the cost.

This is the formula: Doctors who can’t afford to care for Patients + Patients who can’t find a Doctor who can afford to see them = Lousy Government. Let me say this one more time: Doctors are not the bad guys here; they just don’t want to go broke. Patients aren’t the bad guys here; they are simply seeking medical care. The only Big-Time-Oughta-Be-Ashamed-Of-Themselves-and-Must-Think-We’re-Idiots Bad Guys are the goverment officials who are herding us into this scenario they’ve crafted. We’re all puppets, people. It’s their stage.
